Message from Therapist

I love helping individuals, couples, and families work through the stress of life by addressing the whole person; mental, physical, and spiritual. I work with people who are struggling with anxiety, depression, grief, and trauma. I also work with men and women who experience unwanted same-sex attraction, sex/porn addition, and alcohol and drug abuse.

For questions and to schedule an appointment, please call or email me.

In addition, The Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph has a support group that meets twice a week called the My House Men's Group  for men struggling with pornography and other forms of sexual addiction.

Support groups, clinical therapy, and education are available for men, women and families.

Bio:
My name is Chris Ellman and I am married with several children. I'm proud to have called Kansas City my home for the past 15 years. My family and I attend Our Lady of the Presentation and are also members of the Heart of the Redeemer Covenant Community. Our Catholic faith and our relationship with the Lord is very important to us and informs the decisions that we make.

Ever since I was young, I knew I wanted to be in a profession where I could directly help others. After earning a Bachelor's Degree from Truman State University, I attended the University of Kansas School of Social Welfare and was awarded a Master's Degree in Social Work. My experience in the service profession is quite broad. I've worked for a hospice organization, a large hospital, and even spent a number of years as a Financial Advisor. Through the Lord's grace, I am now a therapist with the Center for Healing.

In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my wife and children and reading anything by G.K. Chesterton, C.S. Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien. I am also an avid reptile enthusiast, a music fan, and I enjoy going to concerts and playing the drums.

I have a passion for helping individuals, couples, and families work through the stress of life by addressing the whole person; mental, physical, and spiritual.

More About Chris Ellman, MSW, LCSW, SATP, CSAT

I work as a counselor at the Center for Healing LLC with Michael Ciaccio. We are located at the Chancery in Downtown Kansas City.  I am also a Sexual Addiction Treatment Provider (SATP) and Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), but I work with a wide variety of other issues too, such as anxiety, depression, grief, trauma and relationship issues.

At the Center for Healing, we understand the dynamics behind distressed marriages, individuals struggling to cope, loneliness and addiction (a term often misunderstood). “Behind every unhealthy behavior, is a healthy desire.” When trauma hits, a mental illness paralyzes or addiction is overbearing, research-based, sound clinical therapy is where the Center for Healing wants to help you, in the trenches.

The mission of the Center for Healing is to restore relationships, heal those suffering from addiction, undo loneliness and find peace and rest in the midst of life. We look to protect, validate, and comfort our clients struggling with mental illness or a variety of other problems. The Center is based on sound Christian principles, research-based therapy, aspects of neurology: a wholistic approach to heal the person.
