As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist I provide a comfortable and safe counseling environment that tailors each individual treatment based upon the goals you wish to achieve to make lasting changes in your life. Counseling is an opportunity to reflect on your life with a nonjudgmental stance, to work on unresolved issues, and to ultimately become the person you want to be.

I have spent several years working in the field professionally with a wide range of clients, including those suffering from anxiety, depression, PTSD, pornography addiction, and many other issues. I use several theoretical approaches to help clients achieve their goals including cognitive-behavioral, structural, systems theory, and EMDR.

I take an open-minded approach to each clients wellness and consider multiple aspects such as family traditions, faith and cultural beliefs, and provide to my Catholic clients the understanding of the tenants of our Catholic faith.

Bio:
I came to know Christ first through Young Life when I was a junior in high school. Friends later brought me to St. Josephs in West St. Paul where I continued to grow in the faith, and even received confirmation while a senior in high school.

After graduating, I served with NET Ministries for one year hosting Catholic retreats for teens all across the country, did one year of community college, and then entered St. John Vianney Seminary on the University of St. Thomas campus where I studied and discerned for three years.

This included a study abroad experience in Rome (best experience of my life!), where I was lucky enough to serve Mass for and meet our Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI!I graduated from the University of St. Thomas with dual Bachelor of Art degrees in Philosophy and Catholic Studies.

After college I moved to Chicago and worked for Totally Yours Pilgrimages, a Catholic pilgrimage company leading tours around the world including to the Holy Land, Ireland, Lourdes, Medjugorje, and Guadalupe, Mexico. This was indeed a very thrilling experience for me, getting to see many treasures of the Church!

I moved back home to St. Paul and earned my Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Saint Marys University. I now hold a License in Marriage and Family Therapy from the State of Minnesota, and run my own private practice, JMV Therapy, through which I provide services to dozens of seminarians, as well as Catholics who want a therapist who understands the tenants of the faith, and follows them with their entire heart.

I met my future wife in college as well and we were married during the summer of 2012 in the Basilica of Minneapolis, MN.
