I am available to help Catholics AND other Christians who experience anxiety and depressive moods, suffer from low self-image, going through a difficult life transition, grief/loss, have struggles in maintaining relationships or experience flash backs or unwanted episodes of anger or fear.

Therapy is based in the sound psychological findings of Catholic psychiatrists who follow the psychological model of Saint Thomas of Aquinas. 

i am available by appointment Tuesdays through Saturdays for in-person or by virtual session through a HIPAA approved telehealth platform.

Bio:
Training includes a knowledge of a Catholic philosophy of psychology based in the studies and clinical experiences of Conrad W Baars, MD and Anna A. Terruwe, MD which recognizes the teaching of Saint Thomas Aquinas ( Summa Theologiae ) -- that God Created mankind inclined toward the GOOD; Therefore, Affirmation Therapy is directed toward this truth of who we are in God's eyes and looks toward reestablishing this basic good by providing healing of the deprivations and traumas of life and the individuals defenses that cause relationship discord.

Deeply encoded trauma is also treated with the Havening Technique® where appropriate and acceptable to the client/patient. This technique removes the encoded trauma(s) for the limbic system of the brain.

Being a therapist with a long last name (Schlichtinger), I decided to have a DBA as a name which is easy to pronounce.  I chose Journey Counseling Service (or JCS) as an acronym for Jesus Christ Saves.

Jesus is the healer and I'm His assistant in my practice to help people to heal from wounded emotions and cognitive discord and bring them to an affirming acceptance of self, be fully alive in this world, and to live life to the fullest (Jn10:10).
