Message from Therapist

As a psychologist, I seek healing that acknowledges the interdependent psychological, biological and spiritual aspects of my clients in the light of the Catholic Church teaching of the anthropology of the human person.  My client's religious, life-values that they present in therapy are honored as being relational in the context of their social environment and station in life.

Specializing in counseling services across the family spectrum. I offer adult individual therapy as well as Couples/marital therapy. I also work with children (3 to 12) using “Child Centered Play Therapy” and I counsel teens and parents. My therapies range from psychodynamic to cognitive behavioral.

There are moments in life when we can hit an emotional road-block. New challenges may present themselves that are difficult to conquer alone. Life can become either overwhelming or we can learn new coping strategies and overcome old wounds. These difficulties do not have to derail us.  The best way to help clients overcome such difficulties and for them to acquire complete healing is by providing a holistic approach of integrating the emotional, human and spiritual aspects of my clients.

Bio:
In the 1990s, I had a career as a freelance video-editor in New York City and never had a thought of returning to school. But in 2000, I heard about a new program that examines, not merely the full breath of psychological theories, but an understanding of them in the light of the Catholic Church's anthropology of the human person.

Having lived in the midst of brokenness of the secular world, I believed that this was at the center of a very important movement and I felt that God was calling me to be a part of it. So, I gave up my career to go back to school at The Institute for the Psychological Sciences (Divine Mercy University) in Arlington, VA.

My experiences in psychology have lead me to a number of convictions that I believe some secular therapists miss.

I believe that:
- authentic caring and compassionate therapy should have a holistic vision.
- a client should not be limited by a psychotherapists reductionist vision of the human person.
- a therapist should respect their clients world-view and religious conviction.
- a client has a right to self-determination in therapy.

I present my services as a psychologist for your consideration. Please review my list of services for individuals, couples, families and religious persons. If there is any way in which you believe I may assist you or your family, please let me know.
