Message from Therapist

We are all called to carry crosses and to endure suffering in this life. However, we are also called to joy and a deep fulfillment in living out our vocation as sons and daughters of God. If there are struggles getting in the way of that calling, counseling may be able to help.

As a Catholic mental health counselor, I work with adolescents, adults, and couples seeking healing and growth not only through evidence-based mental health treatment but also honoring the depth of their spirituality. This approach differs from pastoral counseling in that a holistic, Catholic view of the person is integrated into an effective framework for mental health therapy.

I diligently collaborate with clients to create goals for therapy and partner with them to create a vision and plan for effective treatment. Counseling duration and interventions can vary depending on the issue you are working through. My general stance is to define the roots of a problem instead of working on surface-level symptom reduction, though sometimes this is beneficial before the deeper work can be engaged.

To learn more about what our work could look like together, please call today. All calls remain confidential. Choosing a therapist can be a challenging decision made with limited information. I would be happy to connect with you to answer any questions you have and give you a sense of what working with me is like.

Practice Info

Bio:
My career started out in the technology sector, working initially as a software consultant and then entering the startup world. While these positions were engaging, I always felt a nagging sense for a different vocation. I fell in love with this work after volunteering with a nonprofit that served grieving families and this set my path to pursue a future in mental health.

I received a masters in Mental Health Counseling and worked in a group private practice for 6 years before launching Smith Counseling Services in 2023.
