Message from Therapist

You want counseling, but you wonder if you can trust the therapist to support your faith?  Search no further.  I am your Catholic therapist ready to support you in your faith.  I am  ready to pray with you and support you in the fullness of the Church.

During these difficult times you want a therapist you can trust. I know how hard it can be to find a therapist that supports your values and can understand the importance of your faith.  You don't want to be counseled from a position that is against your principals or values.

Whether you are searching for parenting help or help for your marriage or other relationships, I have 18 years in working with children and families helping them find their peace and heal their distress.

Sometimes in our walk of faith we need to clear the cob webs of doubt and find clarity.  We may doubt and struggle in our understanding. I am happy to walk by your side and together we can unravel what is getting in the way of your peace, hope and happiness. Together we will find solutions and create actions plans to get you to your goals, find clarity and peace in your mental health and relationships.

More About Michelle Muff, MA, LMFT

My name is Michelle Muff and since 1991 I have worked with families to help them overcome the difficulties and challenges of modern family life.

You will find I live my life with a sense of Christian purpose. I believe that in order to be fully healed you need to sit on the lap of God and be loved.

I believe that you can get through your current pain and be stronger because of it. By learning to find gratitude in daily life and practicing this daily, you will be amazed at the gifts of love, life and happiness that you will find, even in the midst of suffering. I believe because I have seen the miracles that God has done in my life and I know his saving grace. This grace is there for you too. I will help you find it.

Many years ago, I went through a crucial point in my marriage. I had to decide to leave or stay. I felt the pain and despair of having to make a lifetime decision that would affect my young children. I am at peace with my decision and now I help others go through their process of finding their peace.

When considering a divorce, a man and a woman each have a decision to make. I walk with you. I use cognitive strategies to help you look at your situation from different, objective perspectives.

I have personal and professional experience to guide you toward the best choice for you, and will utilize professional effective interventions that aid children and families through turbulent times. There is no excuse for abuse and no one should have to live in a home with abuse. I help individuals to choose to stay or leave their relationship with grace.

I am knowledgeable in the effects of divorce on children. I help children overcome problems at school, in the home and in their relationships. I look at each family and the needs of the children and help the adults decide what is best for them and their child.

There are skills you can learn to help you remain positive and have hope. The brain is a multi-faceted machine and can be trained to forgive, love, accept others and find happiness. There are people out there who are kind and loving, who you can meet and who will see the best in you. You may feel you can never forgive, but with the power of Christ in you and his grace, you can eventually. Your pain doesn’t have to be forever.

I have a Love of Learning, and pride myself in being honest, authentic, genuine, hopeful, and optimistic and future minded. These are the qualities that I bring to my work every day and give of myself to you, the client, to aid you in your journey.

I want to help you. Please don’t wait one more day. Call me at (507) 310-1321.

PERSONAL STORY:

On August 26, 2003, I was standing in the ER looking at the face of a doctor that had just said my 3-year-old daughter had a 50/50 chance of living. It was like a dream. This can't be happening to me, can it? But it was true. My daughter had been diagnosed with meningococcemia, a rare and fatal blood disease.

For the next two weeks, I watched my daughter turn purple due to her blood vessels bursting. She could have lost her arms or legs or potentially have numerous disabilities.  People from all over the world prayed. With the help of many doctors, healthy diet and exercise she recovered with minimal problems.  She is now a thriving senior in college majoring in Biology and Premed.

The love of God and his mercy of grace carried me through.
