Bio:
My Story:
I was born in the Czech Republic and graduated from Medical School there. Soon after, I moved with my husband and two small children to the United States. As our family grew, I stayed at home while raising my little ones and had to put my own professional career on hold. Once my youngest daughters entered kindergarten I got back into school and completed my Master's in counseling at John F Kennedy University.

Moving to a foreign country and restarting my life there was not easy. I recognized through my own struggles and trials how valuable, precious, beautiful, and at the same time difficult human life was. I learned that often the most difficult step for our healing is asking for help. As we were hurt by past painful experiences or by painful relationships, I believe that healing comes again through relationships. Human existence is very fragile, and we need to enjoy every moment of our lives and to live according to our values.

More About Miriam Munzarova, LMFT

Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.
John 14:27

God doesn't want you to live in fear! Because God is your Father, you can turn to Him with confidence! He cares for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field; not a single sparrow falls to the ground without the father knowing it. You are God's child and he cares for you more than all the sparrows in the world.

God's love for you extends far beyond your basic needs and survival. He wants you to be emotionally well-balanced and psychologically and spiritually free and healthy. God wants you to have faith, hope, and love.

Maybe you do not feel free, hopeful, and loving right now. You might feel stuck in misery and pain and not know the way out. Sometimes God allows us to suffer physical, mental, or spiritual pain. Evil is a mystery and we cannot always understand.

I am here to help you to decrease your suffering and pain. I can help you to connect with your inner strength and wisdom and find a spring of living water in the depth of your soul. If you suffer from an emotional disorder I can provide an evidence-based treatment.

I focus on helping clients struggling with depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorders, trauma, addictive behaviors, self-destructive behaviors, and relationship issues.

In my work, I am using a variety of evidence-based approaches for decreasing human suffering. I am an integrative therapist who uses different psychotherapy approaches such as cognitive behavior therapy, DBT, ACT, object relation, attachment theory, and many others. I am also using the new treatment modalities, to release the client's feelings of pain and/or terror with methods such as protocols of Image Transformation Therapy or other somatic approaches.

Every human being experiences negative thoughts, obsessions, urges, and painful memories. The research shows that 70% to 80% of our thoughts are negative and distressing. The scary pictures you created in your head don't need to be true, but they can turn into reality if you let yourself be controlled or haunted by them. You might also suffer from a mental disorder and blame yourself for your symptoms.

When you suffer emotional and/or mental pain it is not your fault, weakness, or your sin. It is a sign that you need help. Maybe you need to share your pain with somebody. Please listen to yourself and listen to your  "inner child". What do you need right now? Do not harden your heart and be merciful, especially toward yourself as Jesus lives inside of you.

Therapy can become also a course of learning how to listen to your true self and your inner peaceful voice of wisdom. The true self is in reality the God himself who is the source of your vitality, original goodness, gentleness, and hopefulness. He resides in the deep part of your soul. Jesus says that you are the temple of the Holy Spirit. We are spiritually free when our spiritual and psychological state is healthy, we are in a good mood, and we have the ability to think clearly and objectively, with good and loving thoughts (Thibodeaus, 2015).

Therapy can help you to live in the present moment, the here and now, to be aware of your inner and outer experiences, and validate your feelings, struggles, and pain you are facing right now. You will discover that only with the attitude of kindness, compassion, and non-judgment you can be healed and find real life and joy.

God is merciful and full of compassion. He has a Father's heart and cares with love and gentleness for his creations. He understands you and has a plan for your healing. He is also all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving. God knows your heart and your deepest desires and He wants to fulfill them. He knows your joys and passions. He knows your sufferings and He always hears your cries for help. You are the expression of God's love, your life is a miracle.

If you are suffering, start with the first little step and reach out for professional help. We need each other on our journey of healing, renewal, and salvation.

If you have any questions, I provide free phone-call consultations.
