Message from Therapist

My style and approach often seek to combine insight-oriented therapies (Gestalt, Psychodynamic), basic cognitive-behavioral concepts, and humor from a relaxed and strengths-based perspective while also taking into account the central role of spirituality for an integrated understanding of the individual to help each client address and find healing of their emotional/behavioral difficulties and strengthen their relationships.

Please note:  Teletherapy can only be provided for those who currently reside in the state of Ohio.

Practice Info

Bio:
I work as a licensed Clinical Psychologist (OH License #6405) and earned my Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy in Clinical Psychology from Rosemead School of Psychology in La Mirada, California. At the time, it was one of only two programs in the nation that was both APA accredited and explicitly Christian.

Following our time in California, my wife and I moved to Pennsylvania for the final internship at Philhaven Hospital, a private psychiatric hospital in (which was associated with the Mennonite church), we then moved back home to Ohio where I began my clinical career in a community mental health center in Wooster working with adults and adolescents.

Over the years, I have had opportunities to provide counseling/psychotherapy to youth, families, and adults in a variety of settings, teach a variety of classes at the university level, serve on various county-wide crisis response teams, consult with law enforcement, military personnel, churches/parishes and schools, and provid educational seminars on numerous topics.

A 12-year journey led me from protestant congregations 'home' to the Catholic Church in 2008; a journey for which I am grateful every day. The local parish I attend has often asked me to help teach the RCIA class sessions on Church History and the Sacraments of Healing.

With over 25 years of clinical experience, I especially enjoy working with teens and adults to help them address emotional/behavioral difficulties, strengthen their relationships, and support growth in their spiritual faith. I became Roman Catholic in 2008, after a 12-year journey from Wesleyan Protestant traditions. I find it deeply meaningful to schedule and attend a personal silent retreat at least annually at The Abbey of Gethsemani in Trappist, KY and have become a Lay Cistercian of the Abbey.

More About Bradley Fox, PhD

While pain and suffering are unavoidable in this life, I truly believe no suffering need be unredeemed. As the Austrian psychiatrist, Dr. Victor Frankl, once wrote,
"Suffering ceases to be suffering when it finds a meaning."

Although we cannot erase pain or suffering from our lives, we can seek to make adjustments so that we can come to carry it differently -- and as result, ultimately feel more content and live in peace. I believe the combination of a quality therapeutic relationship, effective counseling/psychotherapy, and (for those who so desire) staying involved in the Sacraments, can be powerful, effective part of the healing process.

"The Lord is near to the brokenhearted, and saves the crushed in spirit"
(Psalm 34:18)
