Hello! My name is Gricelda Juarez, and I am Registered Associate Professional Clinical Counselor in California. My hope is to be able to provide sound, ethical and effective mental health therapy for all of my clients. I believe in a holistic approach recognizing the various areas of a person being mind, body, and soul. I have a special interest in trauma (childhood trauma, C-PTSD, medical trauma, sexual trauma, spiritual trauma, and others) and how certain types of trauma can distort the image we have of others, ourselves and of God. God created everything good and every individual with a purpose. Through trauma, neglect and wounds we acquire throughout our life, that image can become distorted and negatively impact our decision making, relationships, our perception and even our faith. We learn trauma responses and reactions, often wounding ourselves and others through these. These trauma responses can also rob us of the life God intended for us to have. Other areas of special interests for me are women's issues, impacts chronic illness, low self esteem, affected by a loved ones addiction, and healing from neglect, abandonment and betrayal wounds.
My goal is to meet my client(s) where they are and walk in collaboration with them to meet their therapeutic goals. Therapeutic approaches I draw from often are Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused, Psychoanalytic Therapy and of course, biblical scriptures. Though I work with clients of all faith backgrounds, when requested and welcomed by clients, I integrate the science of mental health and psychology with the scriptures and biblical teachings of the Catholic faith in sessions.
