Message from Therapist

I currently hold an active license in both Texas and Kentucky, and provide psychotherapy for adults, clinical assessment for children, adolescents and adults, and clinical supervision. During the COVID era, sessions are predominantly telehealth.

As a Catholic psychologist, I am dedicated to understanding the bio-psychosocial and spiritual bases of our experiences. That is, I believe that every person’s spiritual nature is intricately bound up within the psychological, biological, and social aspects of his or her life. From that point of view, I work with my clients from whatever point they may find themselves on their life journey.

I specialize in counseling and psychotherapy with adults, and I work with a variety of issues, such as: depression, anxiety, grief/loss, child/adolescent behavioral difficulties, parenting challenges, and relationship issues. I also provide clinical assessment for a variety of concerns.

I also speak Spanish, and enjoy working with individuals within the Latino/Latina population.

I would best describe my therapeutic approach as integrative, basing particular therapeutic methods (psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, existential) on the particular needs of each individual. I have a firm belief in the healing capacity of each and every soul, and hope to strengthen and develop this capacity in every person with whom I work. Such strength may be developed in many ways and forms: including but not limited to learning new coping strategies, overcoming old wounds and toxic patterns, facing new challenges, deepening one’s faith in the face of tragedy. Whatever difficulties or issues you may be facing at this time, please know that you never have to face them alone.

I use a HIPAA-compliant video conference software: DOXY.ME.   It is easily accessible, and entails no additional cost to the client.

Bio:
Dr. Joni Caldwell, Ph.D is a licensed clinical psychologist, with a doctorate degree in Psychology from the University of Dallas, a private Catholic liberal arts university. She has been teaching and practicing clinical psychology in various capacities since 1988. She taught Clinical Psychology at Union College in Southeast Kentucky, was Chair of the Psychology Department, and the Director of Counseling Services. Dr. Caldwell is currently working with the Lakewood Group in Rockwall, Texas.

Dr. Caldwell's therapeutic approach iintegrates a number of evidence-based therapeutic orientations in working with patients, collaborating with them to find solutions for the challenges they face.
