Message from Therapist

Being at peace in the world as we face life's stresses and difficulties. This is the place I hope to bring my clients. Life is a challenge - one finds sadness and joy; darkness and light; despair and hope. We can learn how to face all of these experiences, accepting both the consolation and the trials inherent in each. I can help clients navigate this great journey, as they build the habits needed to bring fullness of life.

Practice Info

Bio:
My therapeutic background includes a Master's Degree in Social Work from Portland State University, practicing in providing counseling in the areas of adults, children & families, couples, and geriatrics for over 19 years.

I focus my private practice on working with adults on a variety of issues, including those experiencing depression, anxiety, grief, and trauma. I have substantial experience working with geriatrics and care giver issues, binge-eating disorder, substance use, sexual abuse, child abuse, domestic violence and trauma.

I have been a Christian most of my life, raised with regular bible studies and grounded in a life of prayer. I became a Catholic convert in 2012.

The approach I use in therapy is adapted for each client, while primarily focusing on cognitive behavioral therapy. I utilize prayer and the use of biblical texts to enhance our understanding of God’s presence in our lives and how He can help us understand and change our thoughts – to rest in Him. Developing an awareness of our thought patterns and exploring the validity of the thoughts allows us to transform ourselves and to ease our restless hearts.

More About Kelli Adams, MSW, LISW

I work with clients throughout Ohio through a telehealth platform.

St. Augustine of Hippo said, “You have made us for yourself, O Lord, and our heart is restless until it rests in you.”  Our restlessness in this world makes it difficult for us to manage the sadness, loneliness, anxiety, and despair that comes our way in this great journey of life.  Discovering how to rest in the Lord can be greatly enhanced through prayer and therapy.

The approach I use in therapy is adapted for each client, while primarily focusing on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).  I utilize prayer, the Saints, and the use of biblical texts to enhance our understanding of God’s presence in our lives and how He can help us understand and change our thoughts – to rest in Him.  Developing an awareness of our thought patterns and exploring the validity of the thoughts allows us to transform ourselves and to ease our restless hearts.
