Message from Therapist

I provide therapy that integrates psychology, Catholic theology, Christian spirituality and scientific research into the counseling process. I offer counseling for individuals, couples, families, adolescents, priests, religious men and women, seminarians, and deacons that takes an integrated view of the human person as unique, created in the image and after the likeness of God with goodness, dignity, and special value, and called to flourishing. My therapeutic approach integrates the mind, body and soul to help clients to heal and grow by making healthy changes to live an abundant life.

My communication style is collaborative, and I build relationships through trust, rapport, and authenticity. I approach counseling that aligns the heart with the head and the recognition that a flourishing life can be strengthened through self-awareness and self-compassion.

More About Monica Hildebrand, MS, LPC

Hi, my name is Monica Hildebrand. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas. I have an M.S. in Counseling and specialize in Clinical Mental Health. I am also a certified Spiritual Director.

It is important to me that each person knows that growing, healing and flourishing are attainable.  I view counseling as a relationship that is collaborative and where each person understands their uniqueness, value, dignity and inherent goodness created in the image and likeness of God. My therapeutic approach focuses on integrating the mind, body and soul through a Catholic Christian lens where each person remains a mystery revealed fully only in the eyes of God. I provide a safe and sacred space to be heard and understood, have hope for change and be transformed through insight, clarity, and the development of a person’s capacities and relationships.  My client focus is individuals, couples, families, adolescents, elderly and religious (Priests, Religious Men and Women, Deacons and Seminarians).

I am a trauma-informed counselor and specialize in grief and loss, anxiety, depression, trauma / PTSD, and Women's issues.  I have active experience in adjustment disorders, relationship concerns, low self-esteem, marriage counseling, premarital counseling, couples counseling, Alzheimer's and elderly issues, personal and professional growth, chronic illness and pain, conflict resolution, spirituality, coping skills, emotional intimacy, infidelity, stress management, Anti-inflammatory lifestyle, life transitions, communication skills and building trust.

I am trained in several therapy modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and  Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). ART is a therapeutic intervention that works directly to reprogram how distressing memories and images are stored in the brain, so they no longer trigger strong physical and emotional reactions. My approach is a hybrid of therapeutic interventions with an understanding of Catholic virtues and values to initiate improvement in how a person thinks, feels and behaves.  I am certified in telehealth for mental health professionals, child development, compassion stress management, compassion fatigue, grief and loss, psychological first aid, promoting resilience, anti-inflammatory lifestyle, and treating traumatized children, adolescents and family. For couples therapy, I use Gottman Couples Therapy and Emotionally Focused Therapy, evidence-based approaches to help couples deal with marital conflict.

I view my work as a Catholic therapist as an instrument of God's healing and to journey with individuals, couples, families and adolescents to make lasting changes, flourish, and live an abundant life.
