Message from Therapist

I've been a practicing psychology since 1991 and I've been licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in independent practice in California since 1997 and continue to hold a license in that state. After relocating, I obtained a license in Texas in 2016.

I offer individual, marital, group, and family psychotherapy.

The theoretical orientation that I use primarily is cognitive-behavioral (CBT) and DBT, although I also integrate other orientations, as appropriate for the patient/client.

I provide a supportive environment that is accepting and compassionate, viewing the human person full of dignity and created in the image and likeness of God.  With this in mind, it is also recognized that human beings are imperfect and, due to human frailty, sometimes act in ways that are painful and hurtful to others.  This may apply to our own past behavior, and it may also apply to the way others have acted towards us.  Through working together, it is possible to broaden your perspective about the situation you bring to therapy, gain critical skills to effect change and cope in ways that help, not hinder positive, healthy change. Another goal is to change thoughts and behavior patterns that have not proven helpful. I work with you to obtain healing from the past and assist in helping you to transcend painful experiences.  In short, you'll come to understand painful events and learn to overcome their effects so that this can be positively reflected in a mind that is more at peace and is able to function better as a person, parent, employee, and child of God.

Healing through education, the provision of tools and skills to change thoughts and behavior we can slowly improve ourselves and our relationships with others.  This can only be successfully achieved in relation to our relationship with God, our creator.  This positive change is made in an environment where the individual is supported in his or her relationship with parents, siblings and others.  Our vocation as a husband, wife, or parent is strengthened in order to live our vocation joyfully. Marital relationships are healed, supported and strengthened.

Areas of expertise are Anger, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Sleep Problems, Marital Problems/Communication, Domestic Abuse, ADHD, Stress management, Autism Spectrum Disorder, parenting issues.

More About Roxana Lambdin, Ph.D

As a Clinical Psychologist with over 29 years experience gained while working with individuals, couples, and families and in a wide variety of settings, I am able to integrate this experience with clinical training to help understand the problems and painful situations that clients bring.  My aim is to work with ALL individuals and I do not limit my practice to Catholics and Christians.  However, as a practicing Catholic psychotherapist, I practice with the values and teachings of my faith am I unable to violate these teachings.  I offer additional assistance to Catholics and Christians in the integration of faith and the benefits of prayer as an adjunct in treatment and believe this is amazingly beneficial.  The research also validates this.

When people seek help, oftentimes, the first part of our work together is to more clearly define the situation that is brought to therapy.  It is not unusual that part of that process is making a diagnosis.  This can bring significant relief and clarity. The course in treatment can then proceed to address treatment and skills/techniques to diminish, or alltogether resolve symptoms and HEAL.  Finally, once the changes are established, these changes are integrated to prevent a relapse in the future.

The recent changes to our daily lives have challenged many of us.  If you are feeling lonely, sad, disappointed, fearful, overwhelmed, take heart.  It does not have to be this way! "For greater things you were born." (Venerable Mother Luisita)

My work as a Catholic Psychologist is to offer solutions, insights and skills to assist those that seek help discern how to move forward, rather than remain stuck in pain and confusion.  With His grace and our cooperation with His grace, we are able to move forward.  After all, God is  the Ultimate Healer and I am honored to be given a chance to help.
