Many people mistakenly believe that seeking professional therapy is for “crazy” people or those who are weak. They think they should confront their problems all alone. The fact is that all throughout the recorded history of humanity, people have sought counsel. Since human beings have a mind-body-soul connection then sound advice does not ignore the spiritual realm, rather embraces it.
Contemporary psychology recognizes that facing challenges rather than ignoring them makes you stronger. All problems are opportunities to grow and become more in touch with ourselves, it makes you more alive. It makes you a better you.
My professional approach combines practical, real-life solutions with modern psychological evidence-based theories along with spiritual awareness on the foundation of Catholic traditional wisdom to help individuals develop their fuller-self.
Bill Moran is a faith-based Marriage and Family Therapist. Bill grew up in a culturally diverse Queens, New York, in a devout Irish/Italian-Catholic family. As many teenagers tend to do, he walked away from his faith and led a secular life into his late 20s.
He worked for 10 years as an electrical contractor– starting his own business when he was just 19. With a lifelong passion for working with people, Bill obtained his real estate license in 1984 and began a 30+ year career in real estate sales and mortgage banking. This led to a chance encounter with a colleague who led him to reconsider his spiritual life. Feeling something was missing, he explored various Christian denominations and some eastern faith traditions before settling back into his Catholic faith.
In addition, Bill is also the founder of WhyCatholic.com a free resource that helps dispel many myths surrounding the Catholic faith.
Over the years, he has had the opportunity to work with people and families from wide socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. He has employed hundreds of people and has helped countless families and individuals achieve their financial goals.
His innate passion to help others combined with having been raised with an emotionally absent father led Bill to spend 20 years serving on the board of directors for the Catholic Big Brother Big Sister program in Los Angeles, which helps fatherless boys and girls through mentorships. He helped raise three step-children and has helped hundreds of others develop their professional careers and improve their personal lives.
Through his constant searching for bettering himself and others, he developed a keen interest in psychology, theology, and philosophy, which led him to ultimately obtain his Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology and a Master’s degree in psychology with an emphasis on marriage and family therapy. His real-life experiences and overcoming his own personal difficulties give Bill a unique ability to understand others and help them formulate their own goals and overcome life's challenges.
