Message from Therapist

As a Catholic psychotherapist with over 12 years of experience, I strive to provide support in healing trauma from a perspective that does not only account for psychological wounds but also the wounds that have impacted our souls. I believe in resilience, healing, hope and God's providence in the plan of our lives.

I help individuals, couples and families repair their relationships and gain coping skills for their struggles with anxiety, depression, loss, trauma, life event changes and grief. I also have experience working with people struggling to overcome addictions. I am passionate about helping pregnant and postpartum families regain balance after adding a new family member.

In my work with couples and families, I use Gottman Method Therapy, and explore how early attachment styles might impact their dynamic. I utilize exercises and tools during therapy that help build strong communication skills among family members. In helping treat anxiety, panic and depression, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and a trauma-informed approach along with providing concrete examples of how to utilize coping skills during rough times such as panic and stressful events.

I am available for Telehealth (phone/video) and in-person sessions at my office location.

I look forward to being a part of your healing journey.

Bio:
Yana Bachynsky is an LMFT and psychotherapist practicing in San Diego, CA, offering both in-person office visits and Telehealth services in California.

She arrived in Denver, CO, from Russia as a refugee at the age of 16. Despite initially speaking little English, she persevered and achieved remarkable success. After graduating from high school, Yana earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Religious Studies and Communication, followed by a Master's in Marriage and Family Therapy. She obtained her license to practice as a Marriage and Family Therapist in 2017.

With over a decade of experience in the mental health field, she has provided therapy to a diverse range of clients. Her expertise encompasses couples, teens, young adults, immigrants, individuals dealing with anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance use, parenting issues, body image concerns, pregnant and postpartum women, and families. Yana also possesses extensive experience, including five years of service as a case manager and program coordinator/supervisor, working with foster youth.

As a therapist, Yana places great value on authenticity, trust-building in communication, conflict resolution within relationships, and fostering resilience during transitions. She firmly believes in the human capacity for healing and growth, regardless of the circumstances.

A convert to the Catholic Church, Yana received the Sacraments of Initiation in 2013. Her faith holds immense importance in her life, profoundly shaping both her personal life and her professional work.

Outside of her therapy practice, Yana enjoys hiking, traveling and reading. She cherishes spending time with her Catholic faith community, family, and friends, including her husband and two sons. Her passion lies in helping individuals gain better self-understanding and find healing, believing that life is meant to be lived to the fullest.
