Hello! My name is Sheila Hynes and I am a practicing Roman Catholic committed to helping couples prevent divorce and heal from discord and deep wounds in their relationships. I guide couples to understand how God can help heal their broken relationships through compassion, and forgiveness, and understanding God's plan for marriage. Couples learn about the sacrament of marriage, and how marriage is a representation of the Holy Trinity. I am also certified to provide premarital counseling to couples preparing for marriage through the Prepare and Enrich program. I have been married for over 4 decades and have two grown children and 6 grandchildren.
I also work with individuals on a wide variety of issues, including depression, OCD, ADHD, Asperger's, anxiety, relational issues, and family conflict.
In my work, I utilize my extensive training in Emotionally Focused Therapy and the Gottman method, and integrate spirituality in my sessions, according to the client's preference. My focus is on teaching couples how to live a biblical marriage and providing them with excellent tools to restore connection and love in their marriage.
I am passionate about parenting and facilitate the Love and Logic workshops and provide parent coaching. In my counseling, I utilize an attachment-based approach to help my clients understand the importance of emotional connection. I also offer attachment based parenting tools that promote empathy and validation, while establishing structure and boundaries for the home.
I am licensed in Nevada and Illinois and can provide teletherapy for clients in both locations and in-person counseling at my office location in Naperville, IL.

For local parishes, I offer faith-based parenting workshops and provide premarital and marital counseling upon request.
